Juneteenth is a day we celebrate our freedom from slavery. All across the country festivals and events are held to remember our past and to look ahead to our future. We celebrate with song, dance, drumming, readings, story telling, food, laughter and fellowship. Folks come up wearing traditional African attire, hair styles and accessories. Vendors selling books and homemade jewelry are just a few of the many elements of the Juneteenth celebration. There is a strong sense of community, togetherness of oneness!
